James was born 5th of August 1989 in Hinchinbrook Hospital near Huntindon. He had a love of motorcycles from a baby watching his heroes such as Kevin Schwants, Wayne Rainey, Randy Mamola, Wayne Gardner e.t.c.
Where at school the other kids would be doing presentations on there pets, but not James, they'd be on the recent World 500 Grand Prix at the weekend.
At the age of 4 James rode his first motorcycle, a little orange italjet50 and was shortly on to a Yamaha pw80 at the age of 6 and a Yamaha ty125 Trials bike at 10.
2003 saw James first get a taste of racing at Minimoto Racing, riding a 4.2 horsepower air cooled Pasini, he got 3rd position in his first national event.
James moved straight onto a Stamas 9 horsepower watercooled machine through 2003 and 2004, Winning countless races in the National Production class and taking a national championship along the way.
2005 saw James start his road racing career on a Jawa 72cc GP machine in a one make cup series run through Phoenix Racing and EMRA at Mallory Park, he also competed in various club championships. James had success on this machine aking a win and podiums.
2006 and James would step up onto a 1996 HondaRS125R, racing in various clubs over the year James took 9 wins, including winning The Bill Ivy Trophy at Brands Hatch.
2007 would see James stay in the GP125 catagory again, but invested in a brand new 2007 HondaRS125R from Colin Appleyard Racing. James and his Dad John started the year off testing at Cartagena` with the Appleyard Race team and went on to furth contest in the Acu Dunlop Tyres Motostar 125 GP Academy Cup Championship, winning and collection podiums over the year and finishing up 2nd in the Championship.
2008 James entered The British 125GP Championship as a privateer in his own team EAST RACING, James got several top 4 finishes throughout the season, qualified on pole position at Knockhill and finished the championship off in 10th position.
2009 and EAST RACING moves on to the National 600 Superstock Championship, James got in the points in his first meeting on the Yamaha YZF R6 and qualified on the front row at Thruxton but his championship was cut short at Knockhill when whilst heading the leaderboards in a qualifying session, James took a heavy fall breaking his right tibia, this would put a hold on the season.
2010 National 600 Superstock and James starts off under his own banner once more EAST RACING but would end the season with the TK COPE YAMAHA TEAM, James acheived a front row qualification at the first round and took fourth place in the race, he continued to achieive top ten positions throughout the season, ending in 13th position in the championship.
2011 and James's abitions are to consistantly finish in the top 5 and achieive a top 3 position in the championship.
