In the Official test session on the indy circuit, friday, the conditions were damp in the morning from rain over night.
Easty goes fastest in the challenging conditions with a time of 49.993.
Qualifying 1
Now on the GP circuit James puts in a good enough time to put him 3rd on a time of 1:32.379, suspension changes are made after this session to cope with the cold conditions.
Qualifying 2
James starts the session well by initially jumping up the leader boards to put a provisional pole time in, but as conditions got worse and the temperature dropped James whilst on a hot lap fell at Graham Hill bend.
He would then drop to 4th on the grid, still seccuring a front row start with his initial time of 1:32:127.
Warm Up
After a late night of fixing the bike James got out in the wet warm up to find the bike in full working order with no problems.
Unfortunatly due to the session being wet James didnt get a chance to feel how the 25mm front suspension would work compared to the usual 30mm Ohlins.
So a base setting was put in for the race and that would be his final set up.
Race
James gets a good start but a moment on a damp patch at Paddock Hill bend loses him drive on the run up to druids leaving him in 9th, however he picks up a few places on the first lap to put him up to 6th.
A Big crash involving 5 riders on lap 2 deploys the safety car and eventually brings out the safety car while the riders and the track are seen to.
Re Start
James gets a good launch but is boxed in at druids. He makes a move on 2 riders early on to bring him back up to 4th.
Easty is in ' no mans land ' as such with his set up as he has not run this suspension in 2 years, but as the race goes on he finds confidence in the front end and catches up to 2nd and 3rd men Deane Brown and Ben Burke.
On the last lap James makes a move on Deane Brown at Dingle Dell but Burke holds the line in the penultimate corner leaving a drag race between the 3 to the last corner.
James defends his line but it charged in to at barged aside in the last corner by Deane Brown.
On the run to the line james finishes a hard fought 4th place.
James-" It was a difficult race as I was un familiar with how the bike would behave at a fast pace, I pushed hard to catch up and had alot of moments but I am happy with the way I rode. I used my head and knew my boundaries.
2011 has been a difficult year, but I will take everything I have learnt and use it to my advantage when I return to the championship in 2012 where I am looking for nothing less than the title win, Thankyou to all involved and all my sponsors".
