Cadwell Park hasn't brought James his best results in the past but for 2011 things are different and Easty is confident heading in to the event.
Free Practice – 5th – 1:34:270
Qualifying 1 – Damp – 2nd – 1:35:119
Qualifying2 – 1st Pole – 1:33:342 Suspension changes are made and James puts in the Pole time early on, struggled with traffic throughout the session but held on to confirm his start from P1.
Race.
James got an average start and came across grip issues straight away. He went down at the Gooseneck first lap but the race was stopped straight away due to a red flag.
With only one handle bar attached to the bike James limped back to pitlane to fix the bike and would start from Pole once again in the restart.
Easty got the hole shot and lead from the start, but on lap 2 the grip issues bit him again shooting James out of the seat on the exit of Mansfield corner.
James went on to battle through out the race, not only with other competitors but with his own grip levels and managed to cross the line in 3rd place, salvaging a podium.
James- “ I got given another chance after the race was stopped, and I feel lucky for that, but happy with the way I rode in the re start. I had very little grip at the rear wheel so had to adapt to this, after I picked my lines differently I started reeling the front runners back in and got back into the podium position.
I am happy with the result, and thank everyone involved, but there is no feelings of celebration from Cadwell Park, after the loss of a fellow rider in the championship, all my condolences go out to the family and friends of Benjamin Gautry.”.
